Last HW of the year

One question due by the final

  1. How did Zeke know that the way that he is presenting Shchitah would be the appropriate way of doing it? And knowing that it would be a public video, how did he prepare himself to include the right information and in the right format in his documentary?

  2. I've always felt that the main point of the process of Shchitah is to keep the animal from suffering from as little pain possible. What other halachic reasons are there for Shchitah? It seems there are ways to reduce the pain, though from what I saw in the Schitah process either way seems to put the animal through significant pain. What does Schitah justify?

  3. What caused Zeke to takle the incredibly complicated topic of Shchitah? and why did he choose to do so in Documentary form?

  4. the music for the background (setting aside that of the interlude scenes) seems to portray the act of schita in a negative way. HOwever, the documentary did not seem to take that angle on schita at all. the producer enjoyed learning about the process and did not find any of it too gruesome or appalling. this ambivalence towards schita has left me wondering: does this movie say that schita (along with the rest of the eating meat process) is a bad action? is the director opposed to eating meat?

  5. Music in film is important. Not only does it set the mood of the film but it also, as Tani mentioned, helps to portray the feelings of the producer. The producer seems, however, to have no consistent theme for music. There is a more serious investigative music at the beginning, jazzy music when the rabbis are speaking and loud, raunchy music between parts. What were your intentions when you were editing in the music? Did you want the film to take a more light hearted tone or serious?

  6. WOW !!! hold on too many questions for meee ahh.. i guess if i have to ask a question on my own video let me see what it would be......

After working on this project and interviewing so many people i really got a sense of how the shechita process was done and i really think it is a very humane way to eat meat but the treatment part before slaughtering an animal really gets me as you will see in the video coming up how they treat the animals it doesnt look to pleasant. I thought about it for a while am i just eating the meat because i like it or do i really care about the animal? When your eating meat how do you know where it comes from? is it getting the proper treatment before hand? Now that i have done this research i am concerned about this and i am a huge animals lover so now i need to look into where my meat comes in beforehand. as should everyone else.

First of all read my essay if you want to know a lot of these answers... and the music was just trying to make it seem a lil more professional i wansnt trying to show it as a negative point. i personally think if your going to eat meat then the best way to do it is by eating kosher meat!!
